Holding My Breath

I find myself holding my breath. I have a pit in my stomach from just thinking about all the changes going on. One of the most challenging things for people with autism is a change in their routine. I think very few people do like change. Now put the extra layer. (Autism) So many families are facing this right now. How will they explain no school, no bus, no work, no restaurant, a new routine, and we can’t tell you how long. Lindsey always wants to know in advance what’s going on. She called this morning to tell me her work place has shut down. She let me know that she is staying calm. Please help families who will need help during this time. Social stories are crucial. Pictures are how many autistic children and adults understand a new schedule. Maybe you could help a family by making a social story.
