You can’t imagine the stress of taking a autistic child to a grocery store. The stare and glare that I could see and feel. I worked hard on making the grocery shopping trip comfortable for Lindsey and I. We practiced walking in and going right back out of the store. We worked on being able to walk into a new place without a tantrum. Multiple tries later we got to the point that she sat in the cart for a very quick trip without buying groceries. Eventually she walked alongside the cart and put groceries in. The day she put 4 pounds of butter in the cart was a fun memory that my mom reminded me of. She was helping me with Lindsey that day. I didn’t have the heart to take 3 out. We came home with 4 pounds of butter. It was a successful shopping day!
