Communicative intent 1996

We had to look at Lindsey’s behavior and her screaming and try to figure out what she is trying to communicate through this behavior. It was time to go outdoors to play, but maybe she wants to watch another movie. We didn’t know for sure. We told her “Lindsey, I know you want more movie but first we need to go outside and play, then we can watch another movie”. Transition was extremely upsetting to her. This was a challenge that went on for years. We eventfully learned It helped to use social stories.
